2013 Watch Site Announcement

Hi, Capital of Texans Nebraskans

 It's a new football season, and with this comes big changes for our group.

 Our previous Watch Party Site, Cool River, has closed (http://sadtrombone.com/?play=true). 

 The Core Committee looked at a number of locations and settled on Third Base, 13301 N. US Hwy 183  (SW Corner of Hwy 183 & Anderson Mill Rd),  Austin, TX  78750 (512) 257-2273

This newly opened facility has
  • great display of TVs
  • excellent food menu
  • promised quick service
  • experience in hosting alumni watch groups
  • full service  bar.
  • They can provide sound by areas within the restaurant
  • easily reroute video as desired
  • The management has guaranteed us a great Watch Party experience.
In our search, we were unable to locate a facility the size of Cool River, so we appreciate your patience as we settle into this somewhat smaller facility.
  • They have an outside patio for our use also
  • We will be sharing with other groups on some occasions
One reason Third Base was chosen is the fact they can also provide us an additional location for the southern side of the Greater Austin Area. This is the Third Base located at South Park Meadows, 9600 S IH 35, Austin, TX 78748 512-381-2273. This second location can serve any of our existing fans and we hope to welcome Husker fans from the expanding area in that region. We will begin this site as a simple watch site for fans to gather at until we can get our feet on the ground at the North Site.  We are looking for volunteers to help with this Southpark Meadows site, such that we can provide the same services down south as we have provided up north.

 Our first game, August 31st vs Wyoming, is at 7pm.

 Our goal is to provide the same Husker experience that we provided at Cool River.
This includes

  • the Board
  • Husker Band over the PA
  • half time announcements
  • information about MyPlates.com to obtain your Texas Husker Lisence Plate.
We are firming up a few areas, so please stay tuned for further announcements. Please feel free to let us know what you are looking for in Husker merchandise. A mention that early arrival will be helpful. Games which are at the same time as Texas games, it will help to be a bit early. If there is any competition for seating space, coming early will help as Texas Fans tend to arrive late.

 A note about an upcoming event: NU vs Texas in Women's Volleyball on Sunday, September 22 at 1 pm. This will be played at Gregory Gym, 2101 Speedway, on the UT Campus. This matches up the annually high ranked Huskers against last year's National Champ. I have found over the last 15 years, this is a can't miss event and one of the best bargains in college sports. Great opportunity to cheer the Huskers in something other than football and just down the road. This is an easy to get to venue on a Sunday afternoon. Mark this on your calendar for a great sport's experience you can share with the whole family  at a very affordable ticket price.

 Your participation in our watch parties helps to provide scholarship money to the University each year. A reminder, your dues for the new year are due.
These dues help us with our expenses and contribute to our scholarship fund.
