This supplemental edition of our newsletter is being published to 1. Let you know about the Big Ten Tailgate on the Big Ten Network(BTN) is being broadcast from Lincoln on Saturday morning at 9:30 AM. This is a 90 minute show where the Huskers will be showcased, and 2. I won't be at the Watch Party this weekend and won't hand out the normal flyer.

The Huskers are back home at Memorial Stadium for today's game versus the Illinois Illini. At Thirdbase NW, get your halftime raffle tickets and grab some squares on the "Board" that pays each quarter.  Thanks for coming out today in support of the Huskers. The Huskers are looking to sharpen up their game before hitting the heavy part of the Big 10 schedule. A storm is coming as Nebraska hits that last 4 game stretch. They must be careful to not overlook any of the games between now and them.

Kickoff time temperature expected in Lincoln on Saturday: 71 degrees, mostly sunny with wind 5 mph out of the East. Outstanding football weather.

The Latest Line: The Huskers by 20 1/2.

In other news, Husker Volleyball Games are sometimes showing up on the BTN network. Last Wednesday's game versus #24 Illinois was great to watch as they took down the Illini in straight sets. The #1 Huskers are undefeated this year and haven't lost a match since last year in October. They just won 3 matches on the road against 3 Top 25 teams over a 5 day period.

The Huskers return home to Lincoln for another big game this Saturday. This weekend, the next Big 10 opponent is the University of Illinois. The Fighting Illini have had a slow start this season and stand at 1-2. The 4-0 Huskers have been improving all phases of the game each week. They still need to stop the long runs from scrimmage, but the defensive backfield has been doing a good job in the early going. The Nebraska offense has been showing a good balance between running and passing, producing very good offensive statistics. They have moved up in the National Rankings to #15 this week, but need to be careful not to overlook this next opponent.

We have a member that is looking to carpool with someone making a road trip to Lincoln for this game. If you are interested and can help out, contact Dan Robinson at dan.robinson@austin.utexas.edu.

We will all be out at both Third Base Northwest and Waller Creek Pub House to watch the Huskers at these multi-screen environments. We will likely have a raffle and be running the board at Thirdbase NW. Thanks for your participation in these activities.

It will be hard to top last week's game against Oregon for suspense. The Huskers didn't let it slip away and are now ranked #20 as a result, a big step in the right direction. This week it is the first away game of the season as Nebraska travels to Evanston, IL to face the Northwestern Wildcats. The Wildcats have started slow this season with losses to Western Michigan and Illinois State, but did win last weekend playing Duke.  It would be great to keep the Husker momentum going as they begin the Big 10 part of their schedule. The offense is stepping it up and the defense is keeping it together.

The excitement at Third Base Northwest and Waller Creek Pub House at the end of last week's game was unmatched. Join us for more of the same in the week's to come.

The toughest test of the 2016 season so far comes up this Saturday as the Huskers take on Oregon in Lincoln.  The Ducks are ranked 21st in the Coaches poll. Watched them play Virginia last weekend and they looked very explosive. Nebraska is picked by a slim margin, likely based on home field advantage only. Oregon has a balanced attack with an advantage in both passing and rushing over Nebraska. The Huskers have been better on defense than the Ducks. Nebraska has started slow in their first 2 games and will need to get it going sooner in this game if they expect to win.

Good crowds at Third Base Northwest and Waller Creek Pub House last weekend. Great to get to meet a lot of new faces. Always a pleasure to connect with everyone from the Big Red Homeland.

Week 2 for the 2016 season has Nebraska taking on Wyoming in Lincoln. The Huskers started slow last week versus Fresno State, but picked it up offensive and defensively in the second half for a good opening season win. Wyoming quarterback, Josh Allen, coming back from a major collarbone injury last season, had a great game last weekend versus Northern Illinois. He threw for 245 yards and led Wyoming to a 40-34 win. This has the makings of another good tune-up game for Nebraska.

Thanks to the great crowd that came out last Saturday. So great to see everyone again. It was good to have the Husker Nation Family back together once again. We are back this week at Waller Creek Pub House and Third Base Northwest.
